The correct answer to the Identifying Exceptions – Part 2 quiz is the groups & pairs skill performed in the video is Legal. Just like last week we know we will be looking at Groups and Pairs Rule 2 in the Senior & Open Divisions. This rules states:
At least one Supporting Dancer must maintain contact with the Executing Dancer(s) throughout the entire skill above head-level.
We know the skill is released above head-level so now let’s take a look at the exceptions:
When an Executing Dancer is supported by a single Supporting Dancer they may be released at any level provided:
a. The Executing Dancer does not pass through an inverted position after the release.
b. The Executing Dancer is either caught or supported to the performance surface by one or more Supporting Dancers.
Unlike last week, in this video the Executing Dancer is supported one Supporting Dancer so we can look at the exceptions a little further.
a. The Executing Dancer does not pass through an inverted position.
b. The Executing Dancer is caught by one or more dancers.
c. The Executing Dance is not caught in the prone position.
All of these provisions are met the so the skill performed in the video is legal.
